The Fraser River.

This photo was taken from a bridge on the Fraser River Trail right behind the main grocery store in town.

The trail is very accessible, and it has beautiful views.

My nephew came to visit me a few years ago, and we went for a walk on this trail.

He was so excited to explore all of the small paths that led down to the river.

I, being a consummate rule follower, had never been off the official Fraser River Trail because I didn’t think it was allowed.

But since you can fish anywhere along the river, you can basically go anywhere...if you don’t mind getting a little wet.

It was so fascinating to see this area through my 12-year-old nephew’s eyes.

I had never explored the river like he did. Never looked at the terrain like he did. Never saw the possibility for adventure like he did.

It’s funny how sometimes, even though we think we know how to have fun as an adult…

....we really don’t…

...not until we remember how to play like a kid.
